Grew up in a predominantly jewish neighborhood in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Kent is the son of Korean immigrant parents.

Kent was good at math as a kid.

He also sang a lot in school choirs and played piano and violin.

Kent loves physics. He really enjoyed learning about calc-based physics in high school, and about the foundations of calculus, arithmetic, and logic.

Kent used to read books a lot, mostly nonfiction. His parents would frequently take Kent to the library and spend hours there. Topics that Kent learned about this way included human biology, psychology, ancient cultures, and more
